IOAN BOJOR (1885 - 1967)

He was natural sciences and geography teacher. He was born on 20 March 1885 in Ardan (Bistrita Nasaud county).

He followed high-school in Nasaud and University in Cluj – natural sciences and geography. He was a teacher in Oradea (1910) and Nasaud. In 1920 he is named headmaster of the first Romanian High School , today ‘s ‘Petru Maior’ School Center. From 1924 to 1940 he was a teacher at ‘Al. Papiu Ilarian ‘ High School. From 1941 to 1945 he was teaching at Caransebes High School and in 1945 he returns at ‘Al. Papiu Ilarian’ High School.

During his career he had the following functions

president of primary School Committee Nr. 1 – Targu – Mures
president of the School Committee at Economic High School – Targu – Mures
ministry delegate for school inspections
president of ‘Association of Agricultors’ – Mures
president of ‘Alexandru Papiu Ilarian ‘ Monument – Mures

Others of his activities are as follows:

as a teacher he promotes a tight link with the village world, organizing different cultural and traditional activities (folk, dancing, traditional costumes, festivals)
he is a member of the Society of Lecturing, stimulating pupils to collect traditional folk pieces (songs, verses)
he created a foundation in order to help poor pupils
he is the author of more than 35 writings in the natural sciences domain, in agriculture, history and geography as well as school text books.
